Here are fiour little bits of plumbing wisdom that every homeowner needs to be aware of:
1. Know the location of the main shut-off valve in your home. In the event of a plumbing emergency do you know how to shut the water off in your house? Find that valve and try it out to make sure it's working. If you're not sure where it is or if it won't work, you know who to call, right?
2. Burst washing machine hoses are an easily prevented tragedy. It is a good idea to replace those hoses every 5 years or so. If you have rubber hoses, it is recommended that you upgrade to the braided stainless steel variety.
3. Do NOT flush baby wipes or other "wipes" down your toilet! They do not break down the way tissue paper does. Having said that, if you do flush them, all I can say is "thank you", we appreciate your business :-)
4. If you have dripping faucets or toilets that make "filling" noises when no one has just flushed it, you really should do something about those things. We get lots of business from people who have received large water bills because of these kinds of leaks.
